On today’s first series of recipes we’re calling “Stem the Tide of Time,” Chef Shashank showcases an easy meal that is a staple in most Indian households. This meal includes:
- Dal
- Kitcheree with Yogurt
- Chiles
- Naan
Dal is a mixture of lentils, peas, chickpeas, and kidney beans, making it a good source of plant-based protein for those looking for a meatless option. We feature kitcheree as a staple on our Fresh Express, but here it’s featured with a serving of Greek yogurt. The yogurt is full of probiotics to aid in a healthy digestive system. And, in the kitcheree, the turmeric used (giving it its yellow color) along with a handful of other spices also helps with inflammation and digestion. Served with a side of chiles (also contributing to a healthy gut) and naan, this is a complete meal that can be enjoyed for lunch or dinner.
